Introduction to Physical Therapy for Medical Interpreters is a three-hour Continuing Education Presentation/Workshop. This course is designed as an introduction for the professional medical interpreter to the physical therapy profession. The participant will learn important physical therapy concepts as well as Spanish terminology related to physical therapy.

This will also include concepts and terminology related to the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) from the World Health Organization (WHO). The course is presented in English and Spanish, through lectures, audiovisual presentations and class participation activities.


Luisa Ramírez de Lynch, PT, DPT – Dr. Ramírez de Lynch currently works for the University of Tennessee Health Science Center where she provides pediatric physical therapy services through University Therapists. She is also part of the faculty of the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program of the University of Tennessee Health Science Center where she is a guest lecturer and/or Lab Assistant for selected DPT courses. Additionally, Dr. Ramírez de Lynch works for the UT Boling Center for Developmental Disabilities on a variety of outreach initiatives for the Latino community with Developmental Disabilities.

One-day registration fee: $35.00 members/$45.00 non-members.  0.3 IMIA CEUs, 0.3 ATA CEPs, and 0.3 AOC CEPs have been approved.
